The Training Division utilizes a comprehensive all-encompassing approach to train the Fullerton Fire Department for all hazard situations. Firefighters are required to complete a minimum of 192 hours of training annually. Additionally, EMS First Responders are required to maintain skillsets and certification currency with Orange County and the State of California. Maintaining currency with Orange County and the State of California is accomplished through monthly EMS continuing education training. Currency of additional certifications, OSHA, and ISO mandates are required to be maintained annually.

Adherence to all mandates and certifications are accomplished by delivering a dynamic all-encompassing curriculum, utilizing several different techniques and medians to capitalize on all available training. Current training is delivered via the traditional classroom setting, hands on training, training in a hybrid format and training utilizing web-based platforms. Training is vital to ensure personnel are up to date on the latest techniques and trends in fire service and pre-hospital care. In addition, training helps to develop safe practices used in all-hazard environments, thus keeping our Firefighters and citizens safe. Continuous training ensures that good situational outcomes are attained within our community.
