FIRE SERVICE CHAPLAIN

Firefighters often help people on the worst day of their lives. Similarly, fire chaplains provide essential support to fire departments during their most challenging times. A fire chaplains may be called upon during a time of emergency to provide spiritual support. The Fullerton Fire Department Chaplaincy program has a threefold mission:

  1. Providing invocations and benedictions at Fire Department and City events and ceremonies
  2. Serving the members of our Department
  3. Serving the citizens of Fullerton

The Chaplain is available to department members and their families for counseling, encouragement, funeral services, and wedding ceremonies. The Chaplain may offer services such as marriage and pre-marital counseling, and all department members are welcome to meet with the Chaplain to pray or speak confidentially. The Chaplain also offers grief counseling to the families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and provides comfort and guidance to citizens who are victims of trauma, following up at hospitals or homes when necessary.

Fire chaplains play a crucial role by helping firefighters and their families cope with physical or emotional stress, grief, and other challenges. Their aim is to aid, comfort, and support firefighters and their families in times of need, contributing significantly to the well-being and resilience of the fire service community.
