One of the three astronaut parks, White Park is dedicated to the memory of Edward H. White II, who devoted his life to the United States Space Program. Edward White is noted as the first American to walk in space. He died during a fire while conducting a pre-launch simulation of the Apollo One command module on January 27, 1967.
