Current and Future Projects

• Gilbert Park -  Improvements would repair damaged hardscape and create an accessible pathway throughout the park. Staff anticipates construction to begin in late May and be complete by August. 

• Emery Park- This project is currently in the design phase and consists of replacement of tot lot play equipment with an adjacent picnic area and an ADDA accessible walkway from Sunny Ridge Drive.  

• Independence Park - Currently in the Design Phase for a new playground which will be located on the southside of the park. 

• Chapman Park - Project is currently in design phase. Scope of project includes ADA compliant restroom renovation. Expected completion: Fall 2023

• Juanita Cook Trail - This project includes widening Juanita Cooke trail on Morelia Avenue between Bastanchury Road and Laguna Road. Construction began in July 2023 and expected completion date is Fall 2023.  

• Union Pacific Park - Scope of project includes construction of a new park and demolition of current amenities. Staff is currently looking for funding sources and the concept design for this project will be reviewed by the Parks and Recreation commission in September 2023. 

• Union Park Trail - Scope of project includes construction of a new park and demolition of current amenities. Staff is currently looking for funding sources and the concept design for this project will be reviewed by the Parks and Recreation commission in September 2023.
