The City Clerk is the local elections official and coordinates with the County of Orange to conduct municipal elections. Duties of the elections official include:

  • Prepare necessary resolutions calling for general and special municipal elections
  • Declare election results
  • Coordinate the candidate nomination process
  • Receive and process initiative, referendum, and recall petitions

A five member City Council represents the City of Fullerton. Voting residents elect the members of the City Council to four year terms by districts. Fullerton consolidates its General Municipal Elections with the Statewide General Elections held on the first Tuesday of November of even numbered years to fill expired City Council terms and conducts the non-partisan elections in accordance with the California Elections Code and local regulations.


Voter Registration Requirements in California

To be eligible to register to vote in California you must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be 18 years of age on or before the day of the election
  • Be a resident of the State of California
  • Not be in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony .

How to Register to Vote in California

To register to vote you must complete a voter registration form which can be obtained by (Remember - if you have moved, you must re-register):

  • Online at registertovote.ca.gov.
  • Calling the Registrar of Voters at (714) 567-7600.
  • Calling or visiting the City of Fullerton, City Clerk's Office at 303 W. Commonwealth, Fullerton, (714) 738-6350.
  • Visiting the City of Fullerton Main Library at 353 W. Commonwealth, Fullerton.
